Carter Menary, sound designer // technical sound designer
I am a game developer specializing in sound design and technical sound design/programming.
I have nearly a decade in experience with game development and programming, with several years of experience with Unreal, Wwise, Unity, and FMOD.
I majored in Game Development & Entrepreneurship at Ontario Tech University from 2018 to 2022, gaining a Bachelor’s of IT (Honours). During my tenure, I founded the Game Sound Club and served as its president for two consecutive years, conducting weekly sessions on a variety of game audio topics. In 2025, I returned to school, attending George Brown College’s post-graduate Sound Design & Post-Production program.
Through sound design, I aim to improve the immersion, impact, and enjoyment of the game while providing satisfying feedback to the player. I make heavy use of Foley and my ever-growing personal audio library, and utilize adaptive audio to the fullest extent I can per project. I believe that strong sound design not only improves the emotional and narrative experience of the games we play, but should also be a vital part in their design considerations.
Outside of game development, I have produced multiple music releases under my name and have produced two EPs with my indie alternative rock band separator, which I am the backing vocalist and guitarist of. I love going on runs, travelling, and watching films.
